About Maintenance
Maintenance is responsible for both programmed and reactive maintenance across all services, which includes mechanical services, essential services, emergency evacuation systems, lighting and plumbing.
Maintenance must also ensure legislative compliance with all relevant bodies and has responsibility for:
- Energy management
- Mechanical services
- Fire alarms and emergency systems
- Lifts and escalators
- Lighting
- Plumbing
- Lecture theatre seating
- Air conditioning
Maintenance ensures that reasonable temperatures are maintained throughout the University’s buildings, which are normally set between 18 and 25 degrees Celsius.
This may fluctuate between the warmer months to reduce convective heat loads and losses to conserve energy and will help RMIT University achieve the Australian Technology Network emissions reduction target of 25% by 2020.
