Communications and media research may be undertaken through thesis writing or through practice- or project-based methodology. Doctoral research is offered in the following general fields: cultural studies, media studies, advertising, public relations and public information campaigns, graphic design, communication design, media design, interaction design, journalism, political communication, organisational communication, Asian media and culture, transcultural communication, new communications technologies, cinema studies, media and cultural policy, news studies, communications history, community and alternative media, philosophy and communication, and general areas of communications and cultural theory.
