Bachelor of Architectural Design

“For me, starting in RMIT’s building design (TAFE) program was a great way to get a feel for the industry. What I learnt at TAFE has enabled me to work in the industry while I continue my studies in the Bachelor of Architectural Design.”

Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology) (Honours)

“The degree provided a nice balance between two diverse areas of study: social sciences and psychology. The psychology component equipped me to think systematically and to carry out rigorous research while focusing on issues of the individual. The social sciences encouraged me to look at the world at a macro level and provided inspiration for research areas. Combined, they equipped me well to move into a career in social welfare and research.”

Bachelor of Biomedical Science

“A highlight of my studies has been my work placement at the Royal Melbourne Hospital where I observed the day-to-day work of an anatomical pathologist. I didn’t realise how useful my labs and practical classes were until I started my placement. An attractive feature of RMIT is the culture. As a musician I love that there is always something creative and fun going on – live music, art exhibitions, fashion shows and heaps of sporting events. It’s good to balance study with play when the work gets intense during semester.”

Master of Applied Science (Statistics and Operations Research)

“After completing RMIT’s Bachelor Applied Science (Psychology), I chose to continue my studies with the Master of Applied Science (Statistics and Operations Research). Being able to combine statistics with something I love (sport) really appealed to me. My research is based on skills acquisition in badminton, and I meet with the Badminton Australia Olympic team once a week to discuss progression and development of the athletes. The research I’m doing replicates tasks I’d carry out when working, I have already met industry partners and potential future employers, so that’s a huge advantage.”

Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Laboratory Me

“I have taken two international placements. Both were huge eye-openers and fantastic experiences, where I developed independence and self belief. For three months, I worked as a trainee biomedical scientist at Belfast City Hospital in Northern Ireland in the haemato-oncology area, largely dealing with Leukaemia. It gave me a comprehensive understanding of blood cancers and the types of tests and treatment options available to patients. The experience cemented my desire to one day specialise in haematology.”

Bachelor of Business (Marketing)

“Studying the Bachelor of Business (Marketing) at RMIT is an opportunity to gain a high quality qualification. It has an excellent reputation, complemented by strong partnerships with many businesses. During the summer semester I did a study tour to Cologne, Germany. This gave me the chance to gain international experience in a short period of time and remains the highlight of my program so far.”

Advanced Diploma of Fashion and Textile Merchandising*

*This qualification has now been replaced by the Associate Degree in Fashion and Textile Merchandising

“Fashion and textiles merchandising at RMIT has provided me with a solid grounding for my future in the industry. I won a scholarship to study six months of my course in New York where they say is the heart of fashion, a truly once-in-a-life time opportunity. I studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in Manhattan, New York.”

Bachelor of Nursing

“The clinical placements have been the biggest highlight of my studies. The things I saw and learnt on the ward during those first few weeks really made me want to become a health practitioner even more. My degree has taught me the necessary skills I need for future practice. The staff members have especially made sure I have the skills required before they send me off to a clinical setting. I have really enjoyed being able to work closely with government agencies in scientific programs with park management and monitoring biodiversity throughout my studies.”

Master of Laboratory Medicine

“I wanted to develop my knowledge in transplantation sciences and the Master of Laboratory Medicine at RMIT was ideal for this. The program has an excellent structure and is flexible enough to allow me to keep working while I study. The rich learning environment has provided me with invaluable research and leadership skills which will be highly sought after by future employers. I’ve really enjoyed learning and updating myself with the recent advancements in Transfusion and Transplantation Science, as my aim is to become a transplant surgeon.”

Bachelor of Engineering (Environmental Engineering)

“Choosing the environmental engineering degree at RMIT has allowed me to be involved in projects that aim to sustain the environment as well as improve society and our living conditions. The small class numbers, high levels of staff interaction, and strong social networks also attracted me to the university. So far an internship with the Sustainability Business Group at ARUP, a multinational engineering firm, has been a study highlight. Working on industry projects in environmental services, project and corporate sustainability advice and climate change mitigation has improved my experience of studying.”

Bachelor of Information Technology

“In high school I loved IT subjects, which led me to choose a degree in information technology. I chose RMIT as it had lots to offer with its student union clubs, gym and central location. The teachers are really great and assignments are based on real situations. I’ve learnt how to plan, code and present my projects to my peers. If you’re interested in IT this course is a lot of fun.”
