Definitions

Accredited course: a structured sequence of vocational education and training which has been formally recognised by a state or territory accrediting body, as aligning groups of competencies with a definable work outcome and an AQF level. (An accredited course is known as a program at RMIT.)

AMS (Academic Management System): RMIT's database for managing academic and student data.

AQF (Australian Qualifications Framework) a nationally consistent set of qualifications for all post-compulsory education and training in Australia. These consist of nationally endorsed qualifications from Training Packages or nationally accredited courses.

AQTF: Australian Quality Training Framework

AMS: Academic Management System

CMM: Curriculum Maintenance Manager

Curriculum base: this will either be the currently accredited curriculum or the endorsed Training Package

Document control: organisations need to be confident of the authority, accuracy and currency of the documentation on which people act. The approaches an organisation takes to achieving these goals are known collectively in quality assurance terms as “document control”

Endorsed: the result of a formal process of recognition of Training Packages undertaken by the National Training Quality Council

NTIS (National Training Information Service): an online database developed by the Australian National Training Authority

(ANTA), providing information on vocational education and training in Australia, including details of training packages, competency standards, assessment guidelines, programs, qualifications, and registered training organisations.

OTTE: Office of Training & Tertiary Education

PQMS: Program Quality Management System

Program log: collection of documents (paper-based and/or electronic) that show the design and intended implementation of a program, together with additional information relating to delivery, evaluation and program improvement. The university’s PQMS provides a framework or filing system for developing and maintaining the contents of a Program Log

RTO: Registered Training Organisation

Scope of Registration: a listing of the AQF qualifications for which a Registered Training Organisation is allowed to deliver training and/or assessment services and issue credentials.

TAFE: Technical and Further Education

Training Package: an integrated set of nationally endorsed standards, guidelines and qualifications for training, assessing and recognising people 's skills, developed by industry to meet the training needs of an industry or group of industries.

VET: Vocational Education and Training
