Assistive technology

You can access some assistive software on any PC, but you will need to register first. Find out more from the Library information for people with disabilities page.

You can also use a dedicated assistive technology PC which has

  • Software: JAWS 8, ZoomText 9.1, Acrobat Reader 8, MS Internet Explorer 7, MS Office suite 2003, OmniPage 15, Macromedia suite (Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Flash, FreeHand)
  • Hardware: large monitor, HP 5370C scanner, text telephone, local printer and manuscript magnifier.

Bookings are not required.

Saving your work

Printing

All workstations are networked to a black/white and colour printers. Information on copy cards and pricing is available.

Scanning

Five colour scanners are available:

  • 1 x HP5100 from PC 7

The following have the editable text function also known as OCD:

  • 2 x HP5590 from PC 5, and PC 8
  • 1 x HP5370C from PC 6,
  • 1 x HP4670 (see-through scanner) from Mac 9.

Please note that bookings advisable.

Wireless

RMIT Wireless network is available throughout the Carlton Library.
