Expert comment on media industry changes
Alexandra Wake has been a journalist for 25 years and is a lecturer in the School of Media and Communication at RMIT University.
Alex has extensive experience as a senior daily newspaper journalist in Queensland and Ireland and spent seven years at the ABC working in radio, television and online.
She spent time training journalists at the South African Broadcasting Corporation and three years as a journalism educator at Dubai Women's College in the United Arab Emirates.
Alex also worked for three years as a senior media advisor for a Queensland government minister.
She still works as a freelance editor and news reader at Radio Australia (the ABC's international broadcaster).
Alex is completing her PhD looking at journalism education conducted by Australians and New Zealanders and is particularly interested in new ways of teaching journalism.
She is an executive member of the Journalism Educators of Australia and a member of the Media Entertainment and Arts Alliance.
