Danny Almagor is the co-founder and CEO of Small Giants, an impact investment company.

As RMIT’s Social Entrepreneur in Residence, Dan advises and works closely with the Social Enterprise Group and supports the SEEDS initiative.

Peter Ball (General Manager, Buffed)

Buffed is a network of shoe shine stands across Australia and Australia’s first social franchise. Buffed creates real business opportunities for people whose employment outlook is limited.

Buffed Logo Following a career in investment, banking and finance Peter has dedicated the last few years to using his skills and experience to explore how commercial practise and capital markets can assist in addressing systemic social issues. Peter has worked on the capacity building of non-profit organisations, community asset development strategies and mobilising appropriate finance for the social sector. He was a founding member of Social Investment Australia (SIA) Ltd and held the role of Property and Fund Manager. He believes that the creation of impact investment ventures, scalable social business models and the appropriate infrastructure to support these fields will generate significant and lasting social outcomes in our communities.

Rebecca Scott (Chief Executive Officer, STREAT)

STREAT is a social enterprise that provides homeless and disadvantaged youth with a pathway from the street to long-term employment in the hospitality industry.

STREAT Logo Before starting STREAT Rebecca Scott was the Vice-President of KOTO, a hospitality training program and social enterprise for street youth in Hanoi. She is passionate about the role that governments, NGOs, businesses and community groups can play together in poverty reduction and sustainable development and has worked hard to ensure STREAT takes a collaborative approach to addressing youth homelessness.

Liz Aitken (Director and Chief Financial Officer, illumination Solar)

illumination creates renewable energy products that green the earth and also transform the economic, health and educational conditions for the world’s poorest people.

illumination Logo With her background in management consulting, Liz has provided in-depth financial analysis, research and delivery of assignments, strategic planning, electricity market and financial modelling and risk management services to a wide variety of clients. This detailed analysis has been used by clients in the analysis and assessment of situational issues for both commercial and regulatory purposes. Liz also has a number of years’ experience in both the finance and accounting industries as a Chartered Accountant, conducting reviews and assessments, constructing financial models and advising on the financial management and accounting implications of various projects.
