Degree scholarships

The range of RMIT scholarships available to degree students reflects the diversity of our student community. The following scholarships aim to reward your initiative, support your academic progress, develop your leadership skills and promote your academic and personal success.

University wide scholarships

University wide scholarships are open to all students across the University. 

• Australian Government OS HELP Loan Scheme For local degree students travelling internationally for study; worth up to $6051; applications close dependant on your circumstances.
• Emeritus Professor John Jackson Scholarship For local diploma or degree commencing students demonstrating financial/educational disadvantage; worth tuition fees plus up to $17,000 contribution to study and living expenses; not currently taking applications.
• Ernest William Capp Scholarship For local diploma or degree students having financial and educational difficulties and can demonstrate a will to succeed; worth up to $1000; applications now closed for 2013.
• Evelyn Boekemann Scholarship For Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students in a diploma or degree program; worth a one-off payment of up to $1000; applications now closed for 2013.
• George Alexander Foundation Scholarship For local diploma or degree students with academic ability, leadership potential, a passion for community involvement and the will to succeed; worth $7500 per year. applications now closed for 2013.
• Inder Kaur Scholarship For female commencing local, current/past refugee degree students having financial difficulties; worth $7000 per year for up to three years; applications now closed for 2013.
• Indigenous Access Scholarship For Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander degree students moving to Melbourne from a remote or rural area to start an RMIT program; worth $4659; applications now closed for 2013.
• Indigenous Commonwealth Accommodation Scholarship For Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander degree students from a remote or rural area; worth $4939 per year for up to four years; applications now closed for 2013.
• Indigenous Commonwealth Education Costs Scholarship For Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander degree students; worth $2469 per year for up to four years; applications now closed for 2013.
• John Storey Junior Memorial Scholarship For local currently enrolled RMIT students applying for the RMIT Exchange Program; worth up to $5000; applications close July and December.
• Northcote Trust Scholarship For local diploma and degree students progressing from a diploma to a degree in the same field; worth $10,000–$15,000 over two to three years; applications now closed for 2013.
• Orcadia Foundation Scholarship For local and refugee students with financial / education disadvantages; worth up to $5000 as a one off payment; applications now closed for 2013.
• RMIT Accommodation Support Scholarship For local commencing students moving to Melbourne to study; worth $5200 towards accommodation for one year; applications close 14 June 2013.
• RMIT Achievement Scholarship For local commencing degree students with outstanding Year 12 results; worth $6000 per year throughout a degree; applications now closed for 2013.
• RMIT Equity Notebook Scholarship For local certificate IV, diploma or degree students commencing at RMIT from secondary school; provides the use of a notebook computer; applications now closed for 2013.
• RMIT Equity Travel Grant For local students travelling internationally for study; worth $4000; applications now open.
• RMIT Merit Equity Scholarship For local commencing degree students with outstanding Year 12 results and financial/educational disadvantage; worth $6000 per year throughout your degree plus $5,000 for overseas education. applications now closed for 2013.
• RMIT Student Mobility Grant For local or international students worth up to $2,500; depending on the mobility destination and type of the mobility activity.
• RMIT Study Support Scholarship For local students with financial difficulties/disadvantage; worth $2500 per year of study; applications close 14 June 2013.
• RMIT Village Accommodation Support Scholarship For disadvantaged local commencing students moving to Melbourne to study; worth up to $5544 towards accommodation at RMIT Village in your first year; applications now closed for 2013.
• Rural Grant For Australian diploma or degree students from a farming background; worth a one-off payment of $5000; applications now closed for 2013.
• Scholarships for high-achieving international applicants If you are an international student applying to study in one of the following programs at RMIT in Semester 2 2013 (July intake), this scholarship could pay a contribution towards your tuition fees.
• St Vincent de Paul Grant for Students with Disabilities For students who need assistive technology to study; application times vary

• Brimbank City Council Scholarship For local undergraduate & postgraduate environmental planning students who are financially or socially disadvantaged; worth up to $2500; applications now open.
• Damian Rasmussen Scholarship For students studying full time in landscape architecture program and who are travelling internationally for study; worth up to $700; applications open October 2013.
• Irana Turynska Scholarship For female students studying your third year of the Bachelor of Architectural Design or fourth year of the Masters of Architecture, worth up to $5,000; applications now open.
• Property Construction and Project Management Merit Equity Scholarship For local commencing under-represented or disadvantaged students who have outstanding Year 12 results; worth $5000 in the first year of your Bachelor of Applied Science degree; applications now closed for 2013.

Art and design scholarships

• Gavin Teague Memorial Scholarship For degree students enrolled in a Bachelor of Arts and can demonstrate artistic merit and a passion for continuing with the Arts; worth $1250; applications now closed for 2012.
• RMIT Cultural Visions Scholarship For TAFE, degree or honours students making documentaries and short films; worth $2500 applications now open.
• School Of Art Honours Travelling Scholarships For Art Honours students demonstrating outstanding academic achievement; worth up to $5000; applications now closed for 2013.
