RMIT University athletes have brought home a myriad of medals and awards after a highly successful Australian University Games in Perth.
The RMIT Redbacks were awarded the Spirit of the Games for the first time at the national event, having won the prestigious award for two years in a row at the Southern University Games.
The John White Spirit of the Games trophy is presented to the university that has shown the best team spirit, fair play and organisation during the event.
Pro Vice-Chancellor Students and Vice-President, Professor Joyce Kirk, congratulated the Redbacks on their achievements at the Games.
"We are very proud of all their efforts and the dedication they have shown in travelling to the other side of the continent to represent RMIT," Professor Kirk said.
"The 'Spirit of the Games' award they have brought back to Melbourne is an outstanding reflection of their sportsmanship and generous fair play.
"RMIT supports all students in stepping out of the classroom and becoming involved in the many facets of campus life, from sport to the arts.
"We look forward to getting more of our sport-focused athletes to the Gold Coast for the Games next year."
The 84 athletes who went to Perth received financial assistance from RMIT Union Sport and Recreation to help meet the costs of travelling to the games, and were also supported by RMIT Union's Sally Tanner and Janelle Farley.
