Recognition of prior service procedure
Procedure
Intent and objectives
To outline the University’s approach to Recognition of Prior Service.
Scope
This procedure applies to recognition of prior service entitlements for professional, academic, TAFE teaching, and senior executive staff.
For Childcare staff members RMIT will recognise service with other publicly funded Australian Universities that have reciprocal arrangements with RMIT and whose Chief Executive Officer is a member of the Australian Vice-Chancellors Committee. Service with other employers may be recognised at the discretion of the Vice-Chancellor or nominee.
The University will recognise prior service, between certain approved institutions and authorities, for the purposes of long service leave, accumulated sick leave credits and parental leave entitlements as follows:
- RMIT Training Pty Ltd
- RMIT Vietnam
Exclusions
Casual staff members (except where they may be entitled to certain unpaid leave)
Recognition of parental leave entitlements only apply to academic and professional staff, not to TAFE staff.
