About Health Sciences
The School of Health Sciences in the College of Science, Engineering and Health has over 2000 students spread over our undergraduate, postgraduate and research degrees in the areas of:
- Complementary Medicine: Chinese Medicine, Chiropractic, Osteopathy, and Wellness
- Nursing and Midwifery
- Psychology and Disability Studies
The School of Health Sciences is primarily located at RMIT University’s Bundoora West Campus with Psychology being located at the Bundoora West and City campus.
The School’s mission is the education of well-qualified health practitioners in an exciting and interesting mix of disciplines and the generation of new knowledge in those disciplines.
RMIT offers you the opportunity to train to become a registered health professional, to serve the community and to benefit from the personal satisfaction gained by assisting people to improve their health. All programs are fully accredited by relevant bodies, are influenced by strong program advisory committees of practising professionals and members of the public, and include extensive supervised clinical practice. RMIT students are sought after in the industry and graduate employment rates are excellent.
The School has a strong commitment to research. For example, Chinese Medicine is a World Health Organization Collaborating Centre for Traditional Medicine. Nursing and Midwifery has research links with Hong Kong and Thailand. Bachelor degree student exchanges have taken place in parts of Europe, North America and Asia. AusAID projects have been undertaken in China, Indonesia and the Pacific.
As a student you will be taught by academics who are generating new ideas. Many students come from other countries and RMIT delivers a number of programs off-shore. Students have the opportunity to study overseas during their training with various international partners and many will spend a period of time practising overseas after they complete their programs.
The School’s aim is to develop health practitioners whose skills are valued not only in Australia but throughout the world; practitioners who will lead their professions through research and other scholarly activities; and practitioners whose skills will develop and improve over time as life-long learners.
We encourage you to consider RMIT as your choice for tertiary education as a health professional and to consider the range of disciplines we offer as potential choices for the next stage in your career.
