The Drawing Room

Throughout the Constellations: A Large number of Small drawings exhibition, artists, students and visitors are invited to contribute to an evolving communal artwork on the walls that explores the theme of “why I draw”. This work will emerge on the web as a time lapse record of the event. Room open for first month of exhibition only.

Why I draw?

A chance to participate in a lively discussion with architects and artists as they debate topics such as drawing by hand or computer and the importance of drawing in their art practice. Join:

  • Elizabeth Cross, art historian and practising artist, currently undertaking a doctoral thesis on drawing at Latrobe University.
  • Dr Vivian Mitsogianni, Architect, Program Leader, RMIT Design Research Institute – Customising Space.
  • Jaak Jurisson, Architect, Adjunct Associate Professor, Department of Architecture, Interior Architecture and Designed Objects, School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
  • ghostpatrol, self taught artist, who has moved from the field of stencil art to exhibit his drawing-based creations worldwide.

The Constellations: A Large number of Small drawings and Contemporary Australian Drawings exhibitions are part of the 2010 international Drawing Out conference, to be held at RMIT University April 7–9. The conference is a collaboration between RMIT University and the University of the Arts London.
