Philosopher Series is back for 2011!

RMIT MBA Alumni invite you to join us for the next Philosopher Series for 2011. Partners, friends and current MBA students are welcome to attend.

In this series, at each session Professor Peter Sheldrake introduces the work of a philosopher and then encourages a discussion on how the ideas that we explore might be relevant to corporate life and to your own business practice. For 2011, the focus will be on more recent thinkers and we will look specifically at issues to do with equality and with making decisions about life and death.

Objective of session

Topic: Richard Henry Tawney (30 November 1880 – 16 January 1962) on Equality

Richard Tawney spent most of his working life trying to address the issue of what we mean by equality. It raises some tricky questions. How can we claim to pursue the objective of equality when everyone is different? How do we address equality in a work context?

The session will begin with a review of some of Tawney’s conclusions, and then move on to explore how we can pursue the vision of equality in a work context where performance and achievement are so important.
